Shirley Sybil Vance (Burelson), age 90 years was born, raised, and laid to rest in Medford, Oregon. She passed on Friday, December 17,2021. She was the only child of Roy and Marjorie Burelson. On July 8,1948, Shirley married Norman Wallace Vance who preceded her. They had 4 children, 1 boy and 3 girls.
Shirley worked for Jackson County Assessor's Office until her retirement. She also kept busy doing her crossword, word search, puzzles and crafts for the church bazaar. She belonged to the Medford Friends Church and being an avid reader she supported the library there. Shirley spent years teaching Sunday School. Also volunteering, when her children were young, at the school carnivals and bazaars.
Shirley has 1 son, Stephen(Lyla) Vance, 3 daughters, Barbara (Simon) Perez, Teresa (Jim) Hector, Debra (Jordell) Hasha. Also raising 2 grandsons, Phillip (Jake), and Eric Covert.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman; father, Roy; step father, Kelly; mother, Marjorie; daughter-in-law, Lyla; son-in-law, Jordell; and grandson, Jeremy.
Shirley is survived by her 4 children, 9 grand-children, 13 great grand-children, and 4 great great grand-children.
Shirley was known and loved for her kindness and compassion, driven by her strong faith in her God almighty. She is loved and will be greatly missed.
She was laid to rest beside Norman in a private family graveside service on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Prayer led by pastor Jesse Davis from the Friends Church. Memorial services to be held at a later date at the Medford Friends Church. 525 Debarr Ave. Medford, Oregon 97501. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Friends Church Missionary Calling.
