Shirley Merle Rollins passed away on July 1st, 2022 at the age of 92.
Shirley’s love of life didn’t come to an end with her death. She is survived by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
Shirley was born to Bert and Merle Cook on December 14, 1929. During her high school years, she met her next door neighbor and US Navy sailor, Jack Rollins in El Monte, California. After he returned from overseas in the Pacific, they married on April 16, 1949. They moved to Oregon and made a home in Grants Pass, where they raised their two sons.
After moving to Grants Pass, Shirley worked for 25-years at the telephone company. She loved to read, travel, and volunteered her time at the Newman United Methodist church. She enjoyed camping trips with long time friends and family. Shirley and Jack went on many trips to see other parts of the world, such as Hong Kong, Mexico, and the Caribbean islands with the Whitmire’s, the Ward’s and the Marr’s.
Shirley was predeceased by her parents, husband, and twin babies. She is survived by her two sons, Bryan (Elaine) and Rodney (Larry). She was a proud Nana to her grandchildren: Alissa, Aaron, Sean and Melissa; and her nine great grandchildren: Casey, Riley, Max, Morgan, Logan, Carter, Paxton, Brayden and Cassidy.
