An exceptional man and one of "the last good guys," Roland Rozen, 78, of Medford, Ore. passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2016. He was born April 15, 1938 in Salinas, Calif. to Manuel Rozen and Angelina Cariaga.
He married Martha (Montes) Rozen, and they celebrated 43 years of marriage June 25, 2016. Roland lived in the Rogue Valley for over 40 years, coming here from Salinas, Calif. He had owned and operated The Mustard Seed Cafe in Jacksonville, famous for his "Roland Burger," and was also a chef at Zack's Cafe, the Sunrise Cafe, and The Wharf. He had a following wherever he would go.
He enjoyed his loving grandchildren and family. He always supported his football teams, the San Francisco 49ers and the Oregon Ducks. The family had an annual tradition at the Oregon coast, where he enjoyed the beach and his love of ocean fishing. He was a member of the Valley View Seventh-day Adventist Church for over 20 years. He held many offices and was very dependable, leading the service at many church meals. He served honorably in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Martha; daughters, Laura (Morgan) Rozen-Clum and Angelina Stone; and four grandchildren, Michael, Kiley, Iris, and Jeremiah. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Hannah.
Roland was an exceptional man, husband, Father, Papa, and friend. He was devoted to God, family, church, and community.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 19 2016 at the Valley View Seventh-day Adventist Church, 3677 S. Stage Rd. He will be laid to rest in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Medford, Ore. Arrangements in care of Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary, www.HillcrestMortuary.com .
