Rena Toll Wagner, 83 of Medford, OR, died Friday, November 9, 2018 at home.
Rena was born June 13, 1935 in Spokane, WA, to Ernst and Greta Toll. She grew up in Spokane and attended Washington State University and was a member of the Delta Gamma sorority. She graduated in 1957 with a degree in Dietetic Nutrition and was a Registered Dietitian. On June 28, 1959, she married the love of her life Howard Wagner. In 1960, they moved to a farm in Grants Pass, OR where they lived until moving to Rogue Valley Manor in 2007.
Rena loved mostly being a wife to Howard and mother to her two daughters, Heidi in 1961 and Gretchen in 1963. Her life in Grants Pass was filled with church and civic activities when she wasn’t being a great mom, cook and hobbyist. She was a woman of deep faith and lived her faith in Jesus Christ through hospitality and care of her neighbor. She was active in AAUW, PEO, Jo General Hospital auxiliary (Pink Ladies), American Red Cross Blood Mobile, FISH (food bank) and Southern Oregon Symphony board. She was an active member of Calvary Lutheran Church. Gospel Rescue Mission (GRM) of Grants Pass held a special place in her heart. During a difficult time in her life, she was invited and attended the morning Bible study with “the guys.” She and Howard have supported GRM since its early beginnings.
She loved to travel, cook, learn new hobbies and talk to people. There was not a person on this earth with whom she could not start a conversation.
She is survived by her husband Howard of Medford, OR; her daughters, Heidi Dupuis (Michael) of Salem, OR and Gretchen Wagner of Culbertson, MT; her grandson Jack Dupuis of Salem, OR. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernst and Greta (Meyer) Toll.
