Irene S. Rausch, 102, of Jacksonville, Oregon, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2025. She was born in Nashua Minnesota, to Angela and Barthel Schoenecker, the middle child of eleven children, on November 14, 1923. After her father's death in 1933, the family relocated to Wichita, Kansas.
In 1947, Irene and her husband and their children moved to Medford Oregon, where they raised their family. After the children were grown, Irene worked for many years for the Medford School District as a custodian.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Rausch in 1996, and by a son, Donald Rausch, in 2022 and a daughter, Virginia (Greg) Kushman, also in 2022. She is survived by daughters Dorothy (Dennis) Compton and Ramona Rausch, 13 grandchildren, 21 great- grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren.
Irene was an excellent cook, seamstress, and gardener; and enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and travel. She was active in her church community and volunteered for a number of years at St. Vincent de Paul food pantry when she was in her seventies and eighties. She lived alone in her own home in Central Point until she was almost ninety-nine, then moved to Pioneer Village in Jacksonville, Oregon, where she made many new friends and enjoyed the activities.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Shepherd of the Valley Catholic Church, 600 Beebe Rd. in Central Point, Oregon at noon, with a Luncheon Reception to follow in the church hall next door.
Irene will always hold a treasured place in the hearts of her family and friends.
