    Janice Beckman Morris

    November 9, 1918 - June 7, 2011

Long time Rogue Valley resident, Janice Shreve Morris, 92, passed away June 7, 2011. Janice was born November 9, 1918, in Salem, Ore., to Roy Rattray Shreve and Sylvesture (Sylvia) Beckman. Her father co-owned Your Office Boy on West Main in the 1920s. They lived on the corner of Crater Lake Avenue and East Main next to the then Medford Community Hospital. Janice attended Roosevelt Elementary School, McLaughlin Jr. High, and MedfordE Senior High, as a Tiger turned Tornado. She was Queen of Job's Daughters Bethel #14, active with the drama club, song queen, and spotted her husband during her senior year. Robert Judson Morris married Janice in 1938, and they traveled to Alaska to make their fortune. When World War II broke out, Janice followed Bob during his enlistment in the states. They returned to Medford in 1947. She held several careers with her husband, as bookkeeper with Morris Brokerage, real estate, and then worked the 100 plus acre pear orchard which now belongs to the Mormon Church on Foothills Road. Janice loved gardening and canning, playing bridge, growing pears in bottles, and touring Mexico, England and Italy. She was a member of St. Marks Episcopal Church, teaching Sunday School for many years, and she was one of the beginning members of Pink Ladies Auxiliary at Rogue Valley Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Rogue Valley Country Club and played in many Southern Oregon Golf Tournaments with trophies to confirm. Janice had a large family with her son, Thomas (Judy) Morris, of Medford; granddaughter, Sarah, of Lake Oswego; daughter, Sylvia (Roger) Leatherman, of Medford; granddaughters, Lisa Peterson Leatherman, of Medford, and the late Lori Dingler, of Portland; her son, Brett (Diane) Morris, of Medford; grandson, Randy, of Oklahoma, and granddaughter, Katie Miller, of Portland. Great-grandchildren include, Molly and Macy Miller, Andy and Ryan Dingler, Matt Peterson, of Salt Lake City, Jessica Peterson (Jeff) Raines, of Medford, and great-great-grandchildren, Cydney, Abbigail, and Lexis Raines. Janice's husband preceded her in death in 1999, and her sister, Mary Elizabeth Schade, passed away in 2009. Janice was a special lady who loved to entertain and keep traditions. Her special gift to her family was writing a history journal of the Morris family. She worked side by side with her husband in all their endeavors, and could tell interesting stories about the growth of Medford. We loved her dearly. Her ashes will be joined with her husband's for eternity in the Rogue Valley where they spent their lives together. The family held a private service. Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary, Medford, OR. are in care of arragements. www.hillcrestmortuary.com
